Application for BATW Membership

Thank you for choosing to join San Francisco's Bay Area Travel Writers. Before you fill out the application, be sure you choose which membership level is right for you.

Membership Categories

Corporate - Corporate Membership is available to those who are professionally affiliated with or represent public relations agencies, tourist boards, or other organizations in the travel-related communications industry.

General - General members are professional travel writers, editors, photographers, broadcasters, videographers and social media influencers. On the application form, please enter information for work published within the last twelve months only.

Provisional - Applicants who aspire to General Membership–but who do not meet the requirements for General Membership–may apply for Provisional Membership status; they are allowed two years to meet General Membership requirements.

Student - Full-time students interested in travel writing may join BATW to learn more about the field from, and network with, professional travel journalists.

General Membership...

To qualify, you must meet the requirements for work published within the previous twelve months. Enter that information in the appropriate application field below (for example, Travel E-books, Travel Broadcast, Travel Photography). If you are an editor, you don't need to include any published work.
Include title and date material appeared; audited circulation figures for publications, when possible; approximate number of words for articles; and editor’s name/contact information.
Provide links to works specified or email PDFs of works to membership@batw.org

Provisional Membership...

Fill out the application. Be sure to email (to membership@batw.org) a 300-word personal essay indicating why you want to join BATW; what experience you have to date with travel writing and/or travel photography; and your goals regarding travel writing/travel photography.

Student Membership...

Fill out the application. Be sure to email (to membership@batw.org) a 300-word personal essay indicating why you want to join BATW; what experience you have to date with travel writing and/or travel photography; and your goals regarding travel writing/travel photography.
